Thrivelife 44 1 | #Thrivelife Day 27: Compliment 3 People

Compliment 3 people today

Words have great power.

Despite the saying that goes something like: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me…,” words can uplift or words can break down.

Chances are, in your lifetime, someone’s said something that stings.

And you at one time or another have probably analyzed (and overanalyzed) what a person meant by the words they spoke (even if they didn’t mean any harm).

Chances are, at one time or another, you’ve also heard words that boosted your self-esteem: A compliment– a polite expression of praise or admiration.

“I love your outfit!”

“Good job!”

“Thanks for being a great friend.”

“I wish I had hair like yours.”

“You are always so thoughtful.”

Compliments do not fall on deaf ears.

We like it when people say nice things to us (and don’t like it when they say not-so-nice things).

Genuine compliments inspire energy, confidence and a lift in our moods.

Your #thrivelife project for Day 27 is to compliment 3 people. And do so authentically.

You totally know the difference in a real versus a fake compliment—someone just saying something to be nice.

The art of the compliment is a powerful, fundamental social skill if done right. You don’t need to be an expert to do it well. You just need to be genuine.

Share some love with others today through your words—be it a friend or stranger.

Bonus:

Do you struggle with accepting compliments?

There is only one way to receive a compliment—graciously, with a smile.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion—and even if you don’t believe it…you can receive it (No need to brush it off or deflect the compliment. Embrace.)
