“If you can imagine it, it’s possible.”- Walt Disney

(Especially with a Passion Plan in place). Find out how to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN (No “rah-rah” pep talk included).

As a kid, what did you want to be when you “grew up?” What goals did you have in your day to day?

Think about the MINDSET you had as a child—ANYTHING WAS TOTALLY POSSIBLE (I wanted to be the next Belle, or Julia Roberts) and how NOTHING stood in your way of your beliefs, your dreams or your goals.

Passion Planning

Fast forward to adulthood…And my oh my how the tables have turned.

Today, when you hear the word “goals” what comes to mind?

Resolutions that never work out?

“Rah rah pep talk?”

I totally used to think all of those things too!

To me, goals meant “trying hard for a few weeks but never fully reaching them” or “wanting something but feeling overwhelmed to get there” or “100% grades on spelling tests”…but nothing ever super life changing.

I was totally jaded…

Until now!

Enter: Passion Planning.

No more “boring goals” with a Passion Plan in place! (A much cooler version of goal setting).

One of the first goals I set with a Passion Plan involved SAVING MONEY.

I decided I was going to STOP spending $200-$400 every month at Lululemon (my fave) and instead…SAVE. I wrote it down. Vowed not to set foot in the store—even when a new Swiftly Racerback tank called my name. And…to actually start cleaning out my closet.

The result?

I fasted from frivolous shopping for about 6-months—not one piece of clothing that was truly unnecessary. I got rid of clothes I never wore.

And, one day, I made a trip to Anthropologie to return a TON of clothes with tags still on them from my college days.

Two-minutes later, I made $1000 from these clothes WITH TAGS still on them.

When you put your mind to something that you want…and align your actions…BIG THINGS unfold (not only did I save money…but I got way more organized and made a little bit of money).

Want to give Passion Planning a try too?

Here is the “play-by-play” for getting ANYTHING you want (and going at it with passion!)—yoga pant savings totally included.

All you need? A pen. A piece of paper. And an OPEN heart and mind!

Today, I’m going to walk you through PART 1: DIGGING DEEP

Let’s do this!

Passion Planning 101

Passion Plan

First things, first…Before we jump right into goal setting (like most traditional goal setters do),we must FIRST understand  what matters most to you and get rid of any negative self-talk holding you back from your goals.

Step 1: Master Your Inner Mean Girl.

Yup. You know “her”—that inner critic that tells you things like: “You suck.” “You’re not good enough.” “You’re too big.” “You’re never enough.” That inner critic you puts you down…like all the time. We gotta get to the bottom of “her”—and all the messages holding you back from greatness. Take a moment to write down the TOP messages you hear from your inner critic on the daily. And (here’s the clincher)…

Consider this: Your thoughts are NOT always true.

Inner Mean Girl

Step 2: Dig Deep.

Ok now that we’ve gotten “her” out of the way—at least a little bit—we can move on to the good stuff: Your true heart. This will be the remainder of the work you do today before we jump into setting any goals.

Unfortunately most goal setting workshops, diets, fitness and self-development programs have tricked you into believing that you START with setting goals. But until you understand a bit more about WHO YOU ARE and WHAT REALLY MATTERS to you, the goals you set don’t always align with YOU.

This step involves 4 Essential Reflections that will unlock your quest to “Dig Deep.”  Here we go:

Reflection 1: Gain Vision…for your whole life.

Passion Planning

Think about yourself at age 90.

What TOP 3 things would you want for your life at age 90 (accomplishments, work, feeling, daily life, relationships, hobbies, etc.)? Write them down.

After you have those, work backwards…80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20…

Think about each of these ages and decades. What do you hope your life looks like at each of these stages? List the top 3 things that come to mind for defining “meaning” or goals you would have liked to accomplish by that time.

Reflection 2: Assess Your Values.

Look at that list you just made throughout the ages…Define your top 5-10 values in a “meaningful” life? What things matter most to you? Write ’em down.

Reflection 3: What Are Your Strengths & Interests?

You are uniquely you and it’s crucial you understand a bit more about yourself in these areas as well: List your top 5 character/skill strengths and top 5 passions that come to mind first! What things are you really good at (i.e. connecting to people, writing, communicating, serving/loving, etc.) and what things make you light up! Take as much time as you need.

Reflection 4: Create a Mission/Purpose Statement.

Lastly, this is a mantra—a statement of intent and direction for your life! If you have a hard time thinking about it, consider naming the book of your life—the autobiography of your life—to decide.

Get it? Got it? Good!
