The typical treatment for UTIs include antibiotics and, if you’re in a holistic health camp, perhaps some cranberry juice. (And newsflash: Cranberry juice is actually NOT recommended — see below).
However, while the UTI struggle is real — dealing with it for longer than a few days or even taking antibiotics or sipping sugary cranberry juice does not have to be with these 10 quick and natural UTI remedies for your mind.

10 Quick Natural UTI Remedies
Natural UTI remedies can help ease the discomfort of a urinary tract infection. Read on to learn how to get rid of a UTI fast.
Remedy #1: Reset Your Gut-Brain Connection (German New Medicine)

UTI’s or bladder infections can seemingly pop up from “out of nowhere.” But when you understand the “gut brain science” and “root cause” of UTIs and bladder infections from a German New Medicine perspective, you can quickly reverse them.
My client (we will call her “Jenni”) messaged me one day in a panic.
Jenni: “Dr. Lauryn, I have a UTI! I haven’t had one in 10 years! What do I do?!”
While the “typical” functional medicine treatment approach to a UTI would be to throwing a ton of supplements or cranberry juice at the UTI “problem” out of the gate, I coached Jenni through the “Gut Brain Reset” method. This is one of the best natural UTI remedies.
As a refresher, your gut-brain axis is mapped for over 1000 different symptoms and conditions (like UTIs), depending on a particular stressor or “conflict” that was “shocking, overwhelming, out of the blue, or too much to handle” for your gut-brain connection.
For example, if you perceive a situation, a conflict or occurrence as “indigestible”, it may manifest as bloating or constipation.
If you perceive a stressor to be an “attack”, it may manifest as a pimple on your face (your skin is acting like your “defense” armor).
Symptoms are always metaphors of something deeper going on under the hood—via the gut-brain axis.
UTI’s and bladder infections are specifically related to territorial or separation conflicts–figuratively or physically. There are natural UTI remedies you can apply.
Think: Moving. Divorce. Loss. Disconnect. Feeling infringed upon or cramped. Celebrating the anniversary of a parent who passed away. Feeling rejected by your partner. Subconsciously thinking: “I feel alone.” The list goes on.
Well, come to find out, ironically, Jenni’s “mysterious” UTI happened the exact day after she had vented out a TON of frustration on our coaching call. All about her husband’s laziness in helping with chores or asking her about her day—her territory felt threatened!
When I brought this to her attention and coached her through the “3 Step Gut Brain Reset Formula” (below), her UTI disappeared with natural UTI remedies!
By 9 pm that night, Jenni messaged me back:
Jenni: “Dr. Lauryn, I have no idea how that works…but my UTI is gone!”
Boom!
The same exact thing happened for my mom! My mom developed a UTI (again seemingly from out of nowhere). When I asked her: “What, if anything, has been a territorial or separation conflict lately?” She instantly knew!
My 30-year old sister, her husband and their 3 kids had all recently moved back home to Arkansas and moved in with my parents while trying to figure out where to buy their next home! While my parents absolutely LOVED this, Mimi’s energy and space was being challenged to say the least! Her UTI popped up over a weekend escape to their lake house for peace and quiet—playing out the exact process of how disease and symptoms in the body happen! (Right after the stressor or conflict has passed—symptoms then manifest).
Is your territory currently being threatened or are you feeling separated from something? Or has your subconscious mind been reminded of a territorial or separation conflict in the past?
When a UTI happens gut-brain axis is simply responding to the way it perceives a stressor or conflict. Don’t worry, there are so many natural UTI remedies you could try to address this problem.
3 Step Gut Brain Reset Formula

The UTI remedy is very simple with the 3-step “Gut Brain Reset” formula:
Step #1: Tune into Your Gut
Identify the “territorial” conflict at play: Moving? Divorce? Loss? Disconnect? Feeling infringed upon in your territory (physically or figuratively)? A spat with your partner or a friend? Sexual disconnect or feeling infringed upon down there? A reminder of a sexual abuse, trauma or self worth conflict?
The “root cause” conflict or trigger is very unique to you. Identifying it will help you determine the best natural UTI remedies to use.
Step #2: Take Care of Your Gut
Decide the NEW STORY—the NEW thoughts, beliefs and feelings you want instead, such as:
“I am safe. I am in healthy control. My body has the perfect blueprint of health and healing inside.”
Support your “gut” (ie. UTI symptoms) with any physical relief natural UTI remedies as an adjunct.
Step #3: Trust Your Gut
Celebrate and visualize your quick relief! Act as if you are telling your doctor or your best friend of your miraculous healing. Know that your body didn’t have a UTI before so it can be UTI free again. Healing IS coming with natural UTI remedies – you are healed. Trust that your body knows how to repair and decide you are well. Where your thoughts go, your body will follow.
Remedy #2: Empty Your Bladder Every Hour
Empty your bladder every waking hour, such one of the easiest natural UTI remedies. Set a timer if you have to, but squeeze out every last drop once an hour.
Also, test yourself first thing every morning and take a picture of it at the 1, 2, and 5 minute marks. Try these strips or these strips. There is a good number of natural UTI remedies out there,
Remedy #3: Lemon Water or ACV PLUS Celery Juice

Drink lemon water or apple cider vinegar (1 Tbsp lemon juice in 8 oz water) throughout the day.
Keeping water flushing through in steady stream prevents bacteria from building up in your bladder and swimming up your ureters to the kidneys. Try this and other natural UTI remedies to experience relief.
Bonus: Celery juice is one of the best ways to help flush out bacterial infections from the bladder. It acts as a diuretic, which helps to flush out the bladder. If it’s not your fave taste wise, you can combine with other kidney-friendly juiced fruits and vegetables such as apples, pears, cucumber, carrots, parsley, lemon and ginger. You can also buy celery seed tea and use as one of the natural UTI remedies.
One serving of watermelon juice or a serving of watermelon a day may also be used. Bonus: blend up the watermelon flesh together with the seeds to make a smoothie to help to support bladder health in full. Watermelon seeds are also known to have antibacterial activity against bladder-based bacterial infections.
Remedy #4: Take D-Mannose + Olive Leaf w/ Meals
Most bacteria are non-motile, but E. coli is the Michael Jordan of the pathogen world. Keep UTI bacteria at bay with D-Mannose like this one PLUS this one. Take 500 mg of D-mannose every 2-3 hours for 5 days
Olive Leaf is also great, like this one. Take with at least 2 meals per day.
And, lastly, I also LOVE Lauricidin—1 scoop with at least 2 meals—for keeping any yeast at bay,.

Remedy #5: Garlic or Allicin

Take 1-2 cloves minced raw garlic with every meal, swallowing the pieces with water, like pills. Take it mid-meal, so there’s food on your stomach. If you’re not feeling the garlic, you can also take Allicin like this one and try other natural UTI remedies.

Remedy #6: Cayenne Pepper
Take 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper with every meal. (If you tried it during the Emergency stage—see below— and you feel it helped. It helps wonderfully with some types of infection, and irritates others!) You can mix it into a spoonful of honey to make it palatable. If you don’t think your stomach can handle 1/4 tsp, take 1/8 tsp, and chase it with a glass of baking soda water (1/4 tsp in 8 oz water).
Remedy #7: Sip Tea
Cistus tea is magical for UTIs just like other natural UTI remedies such as cinnamon or ginger tea!
You can make your own tea from powdered cinnamon or ginger. Stir 4 tsp loose spice powder into 24 oz steaming hot water and pour the infused water off in 20 minutes, leaving the majority of the sediment behind. (All types of cinnamon other than Ceylon contain a toxin, coumarin, which is not water-soluble so it will be left behind in the tea grounds.) Drink 8 oz. 3 times a day. You can stir in a spoonful of honey, if desired, and add a bit of lemon juice to the ginger tea.
Remedy #8: Sugar, Caffeine, Gluten/Grains Cleanse
It goes without saying that sugar and processed carbohydrates can feed bacteria. For now: No sugar, caffeine or grains/wheat at all. Focus on real whole foods and lots of water to make these natural UTI remedies work well.
Remedy #9: Add in Enzymes & Other Supplemental Supports
Supplements do have a time and place for therapeutic support and while they are not the “panacea”, they can help usher the body back to health.
Systemic enzyme therapy is one of the promising directions and natural UTI remedies. This is a popular treatment of lower urinary tract infections as well as treating a number of diseases (source) —especially proteolytic enzymes which have special anti-inflammatory properties.
Top Pick: Intenzyme Forte
Dose: Take 2-6 on an empty stomach 1-3 times per day. Start low and go slow as they are strong.

Remedy #10: Emergency UTI Pain Relief (Early Treatment)
Feel a UTI coming on and needing the right natural UTI remedies? With these 4 UTI pain reliefs that work within an hour.
- Baking Soda in Water
Directions: Mix 1 tsp baking soda in 16 oz. water.
Baking soda raises your urine pH quickly, slowing down the UTI “pathogens” from feeding and seeding, as well as reduces UTI pain dramatically in less than an hour. Usage of baking soda as one of the natural UTI remedies is great. (UNLESS you have a staph, strep, or entero UTI, in which case NEVER drink soda water. In this case: You do need ascorbic acid Vitamin C or pure cranberry juice—only positive against a positive “staph” based UTI infection) Note: If you have high blood pressure issues, you don’t want to drink more than this one glass because of the sodium, so after the first emergency dose, drink.
- Lemon water
Directions: Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in 16 oz water
Counter-intuitively, lemon juice has the same action as baking soda for raising urine pH because lemon and lime juice are alkaline-forming inside your body. I don’t think it is as fast or effective as baking soda, but it’s better for your body as a maintenance measure while you treat your infection, and it’s better than nothing if it’s the middle of the night, you’re in pain, and you don’t have baking soda.
- Raw Garlic
Directions: Consume 2 average-size minced cloves.
This will powerfully affect your UTI in short order, killing off pathogens and reducing your pain level. Swallow small chopped pieces with water, like pills, with some food, like toast. You should chase it with a shot of pure lemon juice, 1.5 oz. This helps you absorb the garlic, especially if you have heartburn. Yes, you read that right. If you get heartburn you need to take acid.
- Cayenne Pepper
Directions: Consume 1/4 tsp mixed into a glass of water or a spoonful of honey.
Take with a little food, like the garlic. This has a dramatic positive effect on some gram negative infections: it kills one strain of E. coli outright. This and other natural UTI remedies have something that will greatly relieve your pain if your UTI is caused by a certain type of gram-negative pathogen. If you feel a warm tingling in your bladder about 40 minutes after taking, followed by a sharp decrease in UTI symptoms, take 1/4 tsp every 4 waking hours for 3 days, then with every meal for 2 more days. Use urine test strips to make sure they’re clear at the 5 minute mark, and then you’re done. If, however, you feel like it irritated your infection, STOP. It can go either way, depending on what kind of infection you have, there are many different kinds of natural UTI remedies that will work for you.
