The Initial Intake Process is the first step for every new client and includes a 2-STEP process:

Step 1: Initial 60-minute in-person (Austin) or phone/Skype Consult to meet you, hear your story, and get a better understanding of your     primary concerns, health history, current nutrition/lifestyle and goals, as well as determine which labs to order (if any) for your health. Prior to the first session, you will complete an Initial Lifestyle Assessment questionnaire and Nutrition Assessment, and we will review these together. Investment$295. 

Step 2: Followup Appointment #1: A follow-up 60-75 minute Thrive Life Blueprint Reveal Session to receive your Initial Thrive Life Blueprint (your custom nutrition, treatment plan, and lifestyle change), as well as discuss initial findings and establish a treatment plan/frequency of follow-up sessions.Investment: Included in ANY Thrive Program you join, or $199 as a single appointment .

A. Only two things:

  1. First, and most importantly, you must be willing and ready to make a change or work towards your goals.
  2. You will participate in an INITIAL INTAKE Session to establish your personalized Thrive Life plan and frequency of sessions

At Thrive, you will work with a professional who views each person as a “client”, not a “patient”, and specializes in holistic health care. I have seen countless clients, go from “wishing things were different” to “experiencing the difference.” You will have the opportunity to take advantage of one or all of the services at Thrive, including: Nutritional Therapy and Coaching, Fitness Training, and Occupational Therapy and Counseling

Report of Findings: Follow-up Appointment #1: $165

A. Payment is due at time of service. We require a credit card be kept on file for all patients at the time of booking. If you wish us to charge a different card, please contact the office at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. We also accept Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) payments. We do not guarantee reimbursement for any services rendered by our clinic.We are not Medicare providers. Our services cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement. Fees are subject to change.

A. Currently, Dr. Lauryn takes a limited amount of Insurance Plans within Texas (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna & Humana). However, for those out of network, we are able to give you a Superbill to your insurance provider for reimbursement if requested. Some insurance companies and HSA or other medical savings accounts do cover out-of-network appointments for Occupational Therapy, Nutrition, and Disease Prevention services (like functional medicine). Dr. Lauryn’s fees are comparable to other service providers in the therapy, nutrition, medical and healthcare industries.

Note: Insurance companies place many restrictions on doctors which can make it difficult to treat you effectively. Even though there are out of pocket expenses, our patients find it is well worth it!

A. Cancellation Policy:
At Thrive, we respect your time, and we trust that you respect ours. If you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please contact the office directly by calling us at (512) 230-7947 or by messaging us through your patient portal. Please understand that this policy is in place as a means of respecting the time and efforts of your doctor and their office staff, as well as other patients who could have received treatment during that time. Should the need to reschedule your appointment arise, we do our best to give at least 2 business days notice and work to accommodate you to the best of our ability in rescheduling you in a timely manner.

Initial Consult or New Patient Visit:
We require a minimum of 5 business days notice for new patients when canceling or rescheduling appointments. If we do not receive a minimum of 5 business days notice, you will incur a credit card charge of 100% of the scheduled office visit cost by 5pm on that business day.
Return Visits:
We require a minimum of 2 business days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) notice for return patients when canceling or rescheduling appointments. If we do not receive the minimum required notice, you will incur a credit card charge of 100% of the scheduled office visit cost by 5pm on that business day.

A. Please be aware that your provider reviews your case, interprets labs, completes chart notes, communicates with other providers on your behalf, and researches additional areas specific to your health goals as part of your scheduled appointment time. This means your practitioner begins working on your case before your visit and continues to do so after your time with them is complete. If you are late to your visit, you will be seen for the remainder of the appointment time and charged for the scheduled visit. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your visit this will require you to reschedule and you will be required to pay for the visit.

A. The short answer is: Yes! In fact, I encourage it. If you are already working with other  professional(s), I value a team-approach, and am happy to work in conjunction with you and your healthcare team’s goals for you.

A. Prescription medications are not handled or prescribed by Thrive Wellness & Recovery. We cannot modify your medications directly, and it is advised you consult with your primary healthcare provider for any prescriptions or medication fulfillments and management. We can not guarantee that refill requests sent any other way will be received and processed.

Everywhere!  I offer both Distance & In-person appointments, so sessions can take place in your pajamas if you prefer. For in-person appointments, my office is located at Soma Vida in Austin, Texas (2324 Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, TX 78702). Initial In-Person Intake Sessions take place there.

A. I offer Distance Coaching for those living outside Austin via Phone, Skype and Zoom Video Conferencing. Together, we will determine the appropriate frequency for guidance and support for your coaching. Sessions look like any typical session, in that you will schedule a 30-60 minute block of time to meet over the phone or video.

Occupational Therapy helps individuals with the job of living life to the fullest!

Occupational therapy is like “life coaching on steroids”—an invested process, combining “talk therapy” with “do therapy” : Not just sitting on a couch talking about your struggles, but using Self-care training, Hands-on experiences and Everyday activities to help you gain new skills and habits, push past struggles and create meaningful (lasting) transformation.

For instance, an individual newly diagnosed with Diabetes may work with an Occupational Therapist to develop the new life skills (Like cleaning out their pantry, starting a healthy exercise routine, or navigating the grocery store).

An individual in recovery from an eating disorder may work with an Occupational Therapist on finding new healthy new hobbies and routines, body-image challenges, meal-prep, transitioning back to home after treatment, or discovering personal strengths.

In short: OT sessions incorporate real-world experiences to bring therapy to LIFE. 

Occupational Therapy will help you put change into action in a supportive and therapeutic way.

With my training and experience in both physical and cognitive rehabilitation, many sessions take a “hands-on” interactive approach to therapy.

Some sessions, we may just talk life, and the things on your heart and in your head. Other sessions, we may get out of the office and put your goals and hopes for your healthy life into PRACTICE!

For example:

Body Image struggles? A session may incorporate a body-tracing project, scale-smashing or shopping support trip to the mall.

Want to “eat healthier” but don’t know how? Let’s go grocery shopping and clean out your pantry together! Or have a simple meal prep session.

Unhappy in your job, but not sure where to begin? Let’s explore other career options together. Discover your strengths through my strengths assessment; create tangible action steps (with accountability) for taking a new leap; and get unstuck!

Nutritional Therapy is not just talking about “healthy eating,” but instead guiding and educating clients on how to use food to thrive–body, mind and soul.  

Nutritional Therapy addresses the foundations of good health: Digestion, blood sugar balance, fatty acid balance, mineral balance, hydration & nourishing diet.

More than just handing you a meal plan or food guide pyramid picture, Nutritional Therapy is an individualized process, focused on helping clients bio-individualize their nutrient needs. Nutritional Theapy addresses the ROOTS of any disease, ailment or less-than-optimal wellness through the viewpoint: Food is medicine.

Simply put: Functional Medicine is a healthcare model based in addressing the ROOTS of disease for healing—not band-aiding symptoms. 

In traditional medicine, there’s a doctor for every part of your body: ear doctors for the ears, endocrinologists for your hormones, neurologists for the brain, GI docs for your stomach, etc.

In functional medicine, the body is one whole; You the WHOLE person, not you, the: Headache. The anxiety. The eating disorder. The hormonal imbalance. Sleep disorder.

Imagine that you had a pebble in your shoe and it made your foot hurt—like alot. While, you surely could take ibuprofen or another painkiller to reduce the pain in your foot, wouldn’t it be a better idea to just take off your shoe and get rid of that rock?

Enter: Functional Medicine.

I help people get to the roots of digestive disorders, food struggles, hormone imbalances, stress and more.

The exact lab testing ordered after the Initial Consult depends on your individual circumstances, but may include:

  • A comprehensive blood chemistry panel
  • Advanced stool testing to screen for parasites, fungal overgrowth, bacterial infections, intestinal inflammation, dysbiosis and a deficiency of beneficial gut bacteria
  • SIBO breath testing to screen for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
  • Urine organic acids testing to screen for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, fungal overgrowth, problems metabolizing fat or carbohydrates, B-vitamin status, methylation issues, detoxification capacity, oxidative stress and neurotransmitter metabolism
  • Urine hormone testing for adrenal and sex hormone status
