How we speak to ourselves has a direct impact on how we see ourselves—and our abilities to conquer new mountain, or stay stuck in ruts and the bottom of our pits.
For many years, I used to look in the mirror and verbally say aloud, “You are ugly, fat and stupid!”
Even physically slapping myself in the face, stomach, thighs, arms—all this as a 9 and 10-year-old girl. I hated what I looked like, and also who I was on the inside. I thought I was nerdy—a teacher’s pet. Not as pretty, or popular, or well-liked as the most popular girls in school. I was driven to be perfect—and never felt like I could measure up to my ideals.
And so I resorted to the same messages, on repeat, in my head every day.
What messages does your “inner mean girl” tell you?
It’s time to catch them dead in your traps.
Thrive Project
Write out the primary messages you tell yourself regular—the negative self-talk that goes on in your head.

Great!
Now it’s time to write a counter statement to these messages. Anything that speaks TRUTH and genuineness to you.
Such as:
“Your thighs are so fat.” “My legs carry me through this world, from point A to point B—and I can squat some mean weight gosh darn it!”
You get the picture.
Begin to challenge the thoughts—instead of believing the lies.
Write them below.
